The regional metropolis attracts superior services
The service sector is by far the most important in the Rouen metropolis, representing more than ¾ of salaried employment. Spread over approximately 33,000 establishments, these jobs are mainly found in the financial and real estate sectors, but also in insurance, ie the sub-sector of so-called “superior” services. The other sub-sectors are also well represented, in particular that of customer relations, which consolidates its positions by increasing the skills of its centers. This strong tertiary representation is explained by the status of regional metropolis, which favors the concentration of this type of activity.
Great prospects for the future
And this phenomenon should increase in the future in view of the many investment and development projects planned. If the real estate offer – essential for the attractiveness of service companies – has particularly expanded in recent years, notably through business incubators and hotels and the completion of the Luciline-Rives de Seine district, it will experience a strong growth in the next ten years with the development of the Flaubert district, which will offer new opportunities for setting up service sector activities. Then will come the future Saint-Sever Nouvelle Gare district, where the large land areas will allow the emergence of a vast and modern business district, ideally connected to the main transport axes.
